انڈيا کےدارالحکومت دلی کی پولیس کا کہنا ہے کہ وسیم اکرم نامی یہ شخص اور اس کا گروہ امیر لوگوں کے گھروں کو لوٹتا ہے، رقم اور زیورات چراتا ہے اور اس کا کچھ حصہ غریبوں میں بانٹ دیتا ہے۔

انڈيا کی پولیس کا الزام ہے کہ جون میں جب وسیم اکرم کو پکڑنے کی کوشش کی گئی تھی تو اس نے پولیس پر فائرنگ کر دی تھی۔ پولیس نے بتایا کہ اس مرتبہ جب اسے گرفتار کیا گیا تو اس کے پاس سے ایک پستول برآمد ہوا جس میں تین گولیاں تھیں۔
پولیس کی جانب سے جاری کیے. جانے والے بیان کے مطابق وسیم اکرم ایک عادی مجرم تھا جو ہر وقت اپنے ٹھکانے بدلتا رہتا تھا اور اس کے یہ ٹھکانے کئی ریاستوں میں تھے۔
پولیس کے مطابق اکرم کو مقامی بستیوں میں حمایت حاصل تھی. کیونکہ وہ اپنی وارداتوں سے حاصل ہونے والے مال کا کچھ حصہ غریب لوگوں میں بانٹ دیتا تھا۔ اسی وجہ سے جب بھی پولیس چھاپے مارنے کے لیے آتی تو لوگ اسے پہلے ہی خبردار کر دیتے تھے۔ اتنے عرصے تک پولیس کے ہاتھ نہ آنے کی ایک وجہ یہی تھی۔
